21st Century Education Council - keeping an eye on the future...
Thanks to the open-minded collaboration between teachers, administrators and Board of Education members, 2009-10 marked a significant departure from an outdated model of curriculum and instructional study. The new 21st Century Education Council (21st CEC) continues to provides a professional and collaborative forum for addressing traditional matters including:
* procedures and timelines for the implementation of new classes
* curriculum study and curriculum mapping process planning and oversight
* textbook and materials adoption
However, now 21st CEC members also spend time each month studying a variety of professional readings and resources on a variety of topics and issues facing education. Readings are completed prior to each meeting.
Every meeting's agenda has four primary components:
1. Professional dialogue and study of assigned articles and publications.
2. Focus on District / School Improvement
3. Matters of Communication and Collaboration
4. General Business
The WDS 21st CEC's purpose to provide a ongoing, deliberate and collaboartive forum for District stakeholders to collectively engage in matters of dialogue, study, planning and evaluation that can position WDS, our students and the community for the future through education.
