School Closing Criteria

Occasionally, severe weather makes it necessary for us to delay or cancel school for the day. We hope to notify families no later than 6:30 a.m. on those days through a text message or phone call, WZZM TV13, our school website and Facebook page.

Key criteria used to determine if school should be closed or delayed are:

  • Severe decrease of visibility due to weather
  • Wind chills of -20 degrees Fahrenheit or below
  • Extreme ice or snowfall

Severe Weather Notifications Are At Your Fingertips

Whitehall District Schools uses a communication system called InTouch Messenger to notify families of school closings, emergencies or delays due to severe weather. This communication system is linked to the parent portal section of PowerSchool, the computerized student records database. The main contact phone number or email address that is listed in your child's PowerSchool account is the number/ email that is contacted for your child. Parents should make sure their child's contact information is updated with the school office. Please contact your child's school should you need to update your contact information.
